The area around our shops is one of the richest in important museums and churches which are extremely clear examples of the Venetian Republic's glorious past. But in our immediate vicinity there are others that are less visible, indeed, at times hidden, which are also able to evoke fascinating stories of that past. These are details that are ignored by most tourists who pass by without even being aware of their existence. Some of them are not even mentioned in the guide books.
There are other important sites a few minutes on foot from Ca' Macana: the Academy of Fine Arts, the School and Church of the Carmini, the Basilica dei Frari, the School of San Rocco, Ca' Foscari, the Church of San Pantalon. I won't offer any description of these places as it would only be a repetition of what is mentioned in your guide books. They are too well-known not to be described in the smallest detail. But after visiting them you will probably be tired, so let me make just one suggestion: if the weather is nice, go to the Zattere and get a typical ice cream like "panna in ghiaccio" (I recommend the "Gelateria Nico"). Seated comfortably you'll have a great view of Giudecca island. And enjoy Venice. .
And enjoy Venice
